New to Team 31

Hey,
I'm Jesse.

Husband, dad of five, chef by trade, Seahawks fan by birth, and the newest guy on the Baskin-Robbins testing team. This is the two-minute, no-slides version.

Where I'm from

Keep scrolling to fly

La Quinta, where I grew up

Coachella Valley. Desert, date palms, golf courses, and 115 degrees in August. This is the neighborhood I grew up in.

Walk the street

Hemet, where we live now

Ninety minutes east of LA, where the valley meets the mountains. This is home for Danni, me, and the five.

How I got here

2008
The start

Chipotle

Dishwasher at 19. Stayed ten years and worked every position up to multi-unit district manager. My favorite job: opening new restaurants and training brand-new crews to standard by day one.

2018
Coffee, part one

Starbucks

Store manager. Learned speed, consistency, and how much it matters to know a regular's name.

2020
Coffee, part two

Better Buzz

Store manager for a fast-growing San Diego coffee brand. Confirmed permanently that I am a coffee person.

2022
The classroom

SJVA, culinary teacher

Director of Culinary Arts at a K-12 school. Built the program from an empty kitchen to 400 students, a student-run cafe, and a ProStart competition team.

Now
Full circle

Baskin-Robbins

Testing and Execution. I started on the line. Now I get to make sure what we launch actually works on the line.

"Watch whether it works in a real shop, then write it down so it works everywhere." That sentence is basically my whole career.
04

Things I'm into

01

Cooking, obviously

Chef by trade. Big batch, lots of people, something on the grill. Cake decorating is a real skill of mine and yes, that came up in the interview.

02

The Seahawks

Lifelong. My kid is named after the quarterback. Sundays in the fall are spoken for.

03

Coffee

Ran shops, still a snob about it. I also help a local coffee shop with their tech and ordering systems on the side.

04

Building things

Websites for local small businesses, little apps, and a 3D printer in the garage that is always running.

05

Home server nerd stuff

A stack of little computers in a closet runs our family photos, movie library, and a dozen tools I built. Danni tolerates it.

06

Church

I help run the admin side of our church in Riverside. Community matters a lot to me.

07

Beach camping

San Onofre, tent site, kids covered in sand, tacos on a camp stove. The best version of a weekend.

08

Reading and languages

Always have a book going. Currently teaching myself Koine Greek, 15 minutes a day.

09

Movie nights

Family movie night is sacred, and it takes twenty minutes to agree on the movie.

05

Rapid fire

Working with me

I ask a lot of questions early

Especially in the first few months. I would rather look new for a week than guess for a month.

I write things down

Job aids, checklists, notes from a call. If it needs to happen twice, I want it documented once.

Tell me straight

Direct feedback lands well with me. I have run kitchens, so nothing you say will be the harshest thing I have heard this year.

Remote from Hemet, happy to travel

Pacific time, camera on, and always up for getting into a shop. Watching it run in person beats reading about it.
